How do horoscopes reflect the construction of time in Graeco-Roman Egypt? This talk will explore how various periodical phenomena—such as planetary orbits—contribute to the notion of a unique moment that determines fate in terms of the length and quality of an individual's life. This is primarily achieved through an attempt to describe the intellectual setting of eight previously unpublished Egyptian horoscopes and by elucidating the required astronomical knowledge behind their construction.
