Chronoi Talks: “Present Time in Humans: Insights from Brain and Cognition” (Online)

January 7, 2021

4 pm - 5 pm (CET)

Prof. Yadin Dudai (Weizmann Institute of Science; EC-Chronoi)

Concepts of time and attitudes toward its passage differ among cultures. Yet there is psychological and physiological evidence for universality of elemental features of time perception in the human brain. A key element is the perception of present time. Attempts to determine the duration of "present time" are not new (an enchanting example is present in the Talmud). But the novel armamentarium of the brain- and cognitive sciences allows new insights. I will discuss how this is done, by us and by others, and discuss some implications concerning the veracity of our perception and memory.
